I feel like I should be excited and happy about the holidays, but there is an emptiness. This is something that began as my children started to get older. When the kids were younger, they were excited about the holidays and as parents, our focus was always on them, making sure they had fun and were involved in all the family traditions surrounding the holidays. As they grew up and began to have their own lives, it seems that this holiday "funk" started to set in. My twin daughters have graduated college and are living on their own now. While the girls are here, we are engaged in family time and loving every minute spent with them. When they leave, we find ourselves with an emptiness that needs to be filled. We are experiencing this now that Christmas is over. How do we get out of these mildly dark times? The answer is gratitude. If you find yourself in one of these emotionally low times, especially around the holidays, it is a good idea to find the things in life you are grateful for. Below are some suggestions to help you develop a habit of gratitude.

AuthorHi! Thank you for joining me on this journey. After spending 30 years in education, I'm writing my next chapter. This blog is a journey through that next chapter as I explore myself and the world around me. I write about mindfulness, how it has supported my life and how it can support you as well. My wish for you is to take what you need and leave the rest. Archives
